Henry Ave. repair project on track to wrap up by mid-August

For those of you commuting through Roxborough via Henry Avenue each day, hang in there; the roadwork between Monastery Avenue and Dupont Street is less than a month away from completion.

The bridge repair project, which has reduced traffic on Henry Avenue to one lane since June 18, is part of PennDOT’s $2 million contract to repair state-owned bridges as needed in Philadelphia.

The Henry Avenue bridge over Annette Street was built in 1957 and carries roughly 14,569 vehicles a day, according to PennDOT. The structure is 378 feet long and 68 feet wide.

Charles Metzger, Community Relations Coordinator for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, says the improvement project is on track to finish by mid-August.
