School District calls off school for Friday

The School District of Philadelphia has announced all schools will be closed on Friday, Jan. 28.

Last night’s storm dropped more than a foot of snow on our region.  The snow was heavy enough Wednesday night that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation temporarily reduced speed limits to 45 m.p.h. on several highways including the Schuylkill Expressway.

Parking bans went into effect on snow emergency routes at 7 p.m. Thursday night.

Due to street conditions, SEPTA says a number of bus lines are still not operating. All regional rail lines may experience some delays throughout the rest of the day.
