Heavy delays after crash closes Route 72 Causeway

UPDATE: The span is open in both directions as of 9:15 a.m.
Anyone planning on traveling to or from Long Beach Island around 9 a.m. today should wait.
That’s because the Route 72 Causeway is closed in both directions due to a motor vehicle crash on the span, which links Stafford and Long Beach Island, according to 511nj.org.
At 8:35 a.m., JSHN contributor Victor Crowell reported being at a “dead stop” on the bridge, while Suzanne SD remarked “no movement” since 8:10 a.m.
The Surf City Fire Department reported two of its vehicles and personnel working at the scene.
Google Maps reports heavy delays extending into Stafford and Long Beach Island.
