Hearing delayed in officer’s death during game store robbery

A court hearing has been delayed for two brothers charged with killing a police officer during a shootout in a video store.

Carlton Hipps and Ramone Williams now face a May 20 preliminary hearing in the death of Officer Robert Wilson III during an armed robbery.

Police officials say security video from the store shows Wilson engaged in a fierce gun battle with the suspects in the North Philadelphia store on March 5.

They say Wilson had gone there for a security check and to buy a gift for his 10-year-old son. His survivors also include a 1-year-old.

The 29-year-old Hipps and 25-year-old Williams remain in custody without bail after their hearing Wednesday was continued.

Court records show that Hipps had previously served time for robbery and weapons charges.
