Health professionals recommend getting the flu shot

Should you get the flu shot?

Probably, according to health professionals who are stressing the value of the shot for adults and children alike. We brought you news last week about who should get the shot and who can benefit the most from it, but if you missed the report (or are ducking your sick coworkers in the hopes of staying healthy), here are some highlights:

This year’s vaccination is the same as last year’s, but you’re advised to get it again to maintain resistance.
Vaccination for kids nationwide increased by about 7 percent last year, but held steady at 40 percent for adults — possible due to the idea that only young children, the elderly and pregnant women are at risk for the flu.

The CDC has everything you could possibly want to know about the flu shot.
