Head of casino workers union supports Atlantic City tourism district

Opposed by many residents and Mayor Lorenzo Langford, Atlantic City’s state-run tourism district now has the support of someone pretty important.

The Associated Press reports Bob McDevitt, head of the city’s largest casino workers union, is encouraging members of Unite-HERE’s Local 54 to support the district. McDevitt said Atlantic City’s problems have been a long time in the making, and now it’s time to make sure the city remains an economic generator.

He’s calling on Langford and City Council to set aside their feelings and work alongside the state in support of the district.
