Harrisburg mayor plans fast to call for government unity

Something tells us Michael Nutter won’t be doing this.

But things are different in Harrisburg. The powers that be there are at odds over how big a financial mess the city is in and how to handle it. Once councilman wants the city to consider bankruptcy.

Enter Mayor Linda Thompson. Starting tomorrow, she’ll go on a three-day fast to call attention to the division in Harrisburg.

She’ll join at least a dozen church leaders for a liquid-only diet from Wednesday through Friday.

“This is really calling for unity among our governmental leaders for solidarity, for a reasonable and sound financial recovery plan so we can all have a prosperous city and get out city back to solvency,” Thompson told ABC27.
