Gunman in courthouse shooting expected no justice

A gunman who killed his former daughter-in-law and another woman in a Delaware courthouse before fatally shooting himself complained about not getting justice in a lawsuit she filed.

Thomas Matusiewicz complained to a Delaware judge in 2011 that he and his family had no money to defend themselves in a lawsuit filed by Christine Belford after her ex-husband, David Matusiewicz, kidnapped the couple’s three daughters and took them to Central America.

Thomas and his wife, Lenore, also complained that they had spent or lost more than $1 million trying to get the three young girls to safety.

Delaware State Police said 68-year-old Thomas Matusiewicz walked into the lobby of the New Castle County Courthouse on Monday and shot and killed Belford and her friend before taking his own life.
