Group wants Christmas banner removed from Pitman’s public property

Where exactly is it OK to hang a “Keep Christ in Christmas” banner?

The Freedom From Religion Foundation says it doesn’t belong hanging from two borough light posts over a county road in Pitman, N.J. The group has requested the banner be removed on the grounds that the sign endorses a particular faith.

According the Gloucester County Times, the group’s issue isn’t with the banner promoting Christmas, but with a faith-based message.
If the sign doesn’t come down, here’s what the FFRF wants its own banner to say:

“At this season of the Winter Solstice, may reason prevail. There are not gods, no devils, no angels, nor heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds. Freedom From Religion Foundation.”
