Groundbreaking for new ER in Middletown

Ceremony today in Middletown marks the start of construction on a  emergency department serving southern New Castle County and Northern Kent County.

 Christiana Care Health System will break ground on the new Middletown Freestanding Emergency Department this afternoon at 2:30 at Route 299 and Brick Mill Road.  The new ER will be a 36,500-square-foot facility that will include 18 treatment bays and 8 observation unit beds.  The facility will serve more than 80,000 residents who currently face a 25-minute drive to local emergency departments.
