Ground breaking set for Delaware County animal control facility

Ground will break later this month on Delaware County’s new animal control facility once soil testing is complete.

The shelter will be built in a metal basin on a site formerly occupied by a sewage treatment plant.

Oct. 27 is the day, just two months before the Delaware County SPCA ends its animal control contract with the county. The Delco Times reports a Plan B to partner with Delaware animal shelters is a no-go, as transporting unvaccinated animals across state lines is illegal. Other area animal shelters are being sought in the meantime until the new facility is ready.
