Green Tree School celebrates World Autism Awareness Day

On the second day of World Autism Awareness Month, students and staffers at Green Tree School & Services wore blue on Wednesday to commemorate World Autism Awareness Day.

The private school located on East Washington Lane provides academic, social skills, life skills and vocational education to children ages 5 to 21 that have Autism or other significant learning, social and emotional challenges.

“World Autism Awareness Day is one of only three official health related United Nations Days and will bring the world’s attention to autism, a pervasive disorder that affects tens of millions,” the day’s Facebook page stated. “World Autism Awareness Day will shine a bright light on autism as a growing global-health crisis.

“By bringing together autism organization all around the world, we will give a voice to the millions of individuals worldwide who are undiagnosed, misunderstood and looking for help.”
