GOP backs longtime Democrat for mayoral race

    The GOP won’t go down without a fight. And a strange one, at that. Longtime Democrat Karen Brown is Mayor Michael Nutter’s latest challenger. And she’s running with GOP support.

    Heard in the Hall reports Brown, a former Democratic candidate for 1st District Council and Council-at-Large, has been courted by the Republican City Committee. The timeline is tight. Brown still needs to register as a Republican and get at least 1,000 supporters’ signatures by Tuesday.
