Giant will acquire 16 Pa. Genuardi’s locations
GIANT Food Store announced this morning a deal with Genuardi’s Family Markets to acquire 16 Philadelphia-area Genuardi’s locations.
“We are very excited to have the opportunity to expand our presence in greater Philadelphia and serve new customers,” Giant President Rick Herring said in a news release.

The $106 million deal is expected to close in the first half of the year, at which point the Genuardi’s stores — a Safeway, Inc. subsidiary — will be converted to Giant markets. Current store employees will have access to Giant jobs there.
