Germantown Artists Roundtable to host first-ever networking party on Sunday
The Germantown Artists Roundtable is stepping up outreach efforts with their first-ever Networking Party, a potluck/BYOB bash on West Chelten Avenue from 4 to 7 p.m. this Sunday.
The event will be held in the temporary office of Flying Kite Magazine, 322 W. Chelten Ave.
Roundtable organizer Paula Paul said there is no structured an agenda for a gathering that the group hopes to hold thrice annually.
“We’ll just hang out together,” she said, hoping the party will aid Roundtable outreach.
Several Germantown musicians will be on hand, including Osiris Wildfire, Rhonda Lancaster on the piano and drummers Karen Smith and Lenny Belasco. Rumors of a jam session abound.
Paul said the events are geared toward expanding the local definition of “artist.”
“When you say ‘artist’, a lot of people think visual, like painters,” Paul said. What they don’t think of are writers, jazz musicians and others the Roundtable is open for including educators, designers and performers.
Attendees are encouraged to bring postcards or materials for any upcoming events they’d like to promote.
New time and location for regular meeting
The Roundtable’s regular monthly meetings will also get their 2013 kickoff with a new time and location.
They’re now scheduled for the third Wednesday of every month, 7 to 9 p.m., at the BuildaBridge headquarters, 205 W. Tulpehocken St.
