Gallery: Northwest Philadelphia high schools compete in Penn Relays

The Penn Relays were held from Thursday through Saturday at Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.

It marked the 118th version of the country’s oldest, largest track-and-field competition.

In addition to international competition during an Olympic year, high schools from Northwest Philadelphia and beyond sent runners to compete in both boys and girls races.

They included William Penn Charter, which saw its “High School Boys 4X400 Inter-AC” entry sprint past Haverford School and Malvern Prep for a win and Germantown Friends, for which a relay team finished eighth in a “High School Boys 4X800 Small Schools” heat.
