Fundraising concert series collects money, items for Allentown explosion victims

Two concerts have already raised $4,000 for the victims of Feb. 9’s gas explosion in Allentown. The blast left five dead and damaged nearly 50 homes.

The first of the six-concert “Hope for Allentown” series raised $3,000, reports the Morning Call’s music blog, and a separate event put on by Union Baptist Church raised $1,000 and brought in shoe, clothing and household donations.

March 13 is the next part of the six-event series, with other concerts running into early April.
