Fourth annual National Walk at Lunch Day

Update: Independence Blue Cross says more than 11,000 people in 80 locations around Philadelphia walked at lunch time today — 5,000 of them trekked around City Hall.

Feed the Feed: Do you take advantage of where you work by getting outside for some exercise?

Original report: No excuses. You can get a little exercise during work, even if sitting at your desk and looking up YouTube videos sounds more fun.

It’s National Walk @ Lunch Day, so c’mon, walk at lunch.

Independence Blue Cross is hosting an event at Philadelphia’s City Hall to help you see how easy it is to fit some light exercise into your work day.

Join Mayor Michael Nutter, the Phillie Phanatic, St. Joe’s basketball coach Phil Martelli and IBX CEO Dan Hilferty for a 1.5 mile walk around City Hall. Don’t live or work near there? Walk somewhere nearby.

The event begins at 11 a.m., so lace up.
