Four Montgomery County officials fired following charges against Matthews

    Following perjury charges against outgoing Montgomery County Commissioner James Matthews, four county officials have been fired.

    The Mercury is reporting Human Resources Director Eleanor Schneider, Purchasing Department head F. Thomas Snyder, Chief Financial Officer Randall Schaible and Public Property’s Fred J. Shaughnessy have all been fired.

    Matthews has been charged with lying to a grand jury about his relationship with a title company that does county business. He’s the brother of MSNBC commentator Chris Matthews
