Delaware seeks public input on statewide health assessment
Delaware residents have an opportunity to weigh in on the major health needs of the state.
Now through the end of January, the Division of Public Health wants answers to questions such as these:What state health issues do or don’t get enough attention? And what health-care changes are needed for a better tomorrow?
This input will be used to create a statewide health assessment, says Division of Public Health spokeswoman Emily Knearl. The assessment, in turn, will help steer the division toward accreditation and aid health-care providers and other services in shaping strategies specifically for Delaware residents.
“It’s a really exciting opportunity, using the investments from the Affordable Care Act to make sure that public health agencies are focusing on prevention, are focusing on being out in front of health-care problems as opposed to just being in a reactive mode,” said Knearl.
The state health assessment and a resulting strategic plan will be complete in the fall of 2013.
