First Hispanic mayor for Vineland

    Vineland will have its first Hispanic mayor following a runoff election.

    Former City Councilman Ruben Bermudez defeated Mayor Robert Romano 5,094 to 3,962 votes Tuesday.

    All five members of Bermudez’s City Council slate also won election.

    Bermudez tells The Press of Atlantic City residents in some critical wards seemed to have turned out in number to support him.

    Romano told supporters they’ll see him again in four years.
