Firefighters save family cat from house fire

Firefighters saved a family’s cat from a burning home in Manchester yesterday morning, police said.

Police officers arrived at the Fox Street house shortly before 7 a.m. and discovered heavy smoke and flames in the structure’s rear, according to a police release.

They learned that while all human occupants escaped the blaze, a cat remained inside.

Responding volunteer firefighters from the Whiting Fire Company extinguished the blaze and located the cat.
