Firefighter’s family files court papers over Kensington building collapse

The family of deceased firefighters Daniel Sweeney has filed court papers following Sweeney’s death while battling a blaze in a Kensington warehouse.

Sweeney and fellow firefighter Robert Neary were killed late last month during a collapse in the building.
It was later revealed the building’s owner had been cited several times by the Department of Licenses & Inspections for property violations.

The Daily News reports no suit has been filed, but papers filed Friday indicate the family plans to sue. A grand jury continues to investigate the fire.
