Fire damages East Germantown duplex, no injuries reported

Firefighters battled a blaze that started in the vacant portion of an East Germantown duplex and quickly spread to the other half.

Police on the scene said the fire broke out around 8:20 p.m. inside 6017 Baynton St. and was believed to have been set by vandals. Flames quickly spread to the adjoining house, 6015 Baynton St., but no residents were home at the time.

The blaze was brought under control at 8:35 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Police said 6017 Baynton St. had been a known nuisance house which had only recently been vacated.
