Fire breaks out at N.J. homeless camp

Two people escaped serious injury when a fire broke out at an encampment of homeless people near the Jersey shore over the weekend.

Lakewood police say the fire occurred around 12:15 a.m. Sunday at Tent City, an encampment in the woods of the Ocean County community. But it’s not yet clear what sparked the blaze, which was quickly extinguished.

Details on the two injured people, including their names, were not disclosed. They were treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
