Federal funding will help hire Camden firefighters

A $5,737,746 federal grant will hire firefighters in Camden.

U.S. Sens. Frank R. Lautenberg and Robert Menendez of New Jersey announced the funding today, along with a $1,530,304 grant for the City of Passaic Fire Department in northern New Jersey.
The money comes from FEMA’s Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response program, which provides money directly to fire departments and volunteer firefighter organizations.

And Camden isn’t the only local fire department getting aid. The senators announced a $590,000 grant for the Gloucester City Fire Department last week.
