Fatal home invasion in West Oak Lane starts with knock at front door

A 43-year-old West Oak Lane man was shot and killed during a Monday night home invasion which started when his 84-year-old father answered a knock at the front door, according to a report from NewsWorks content partner NBC10.

The incident occurred at around 11:50 p.m. when a woman in her 20s knocked and asked to use a telephone at a home in the 6700 block of Gratz St.

According to the NBC10 report, two men behind her then forced their way inside, ran upstairs and shot the elderly man’s son at least seven times. He died at the scene.

“It appears the suspects entered the property possibly to rob it or possibly for the sole purpose of shooting and killing this individual,” Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC10, noting that nothing was stolen from the home.
