Fashion incubator aims to keep designers in Philadelphia

Philly’s got plenty of universities and institutions that churn out budding fashion designers, but how many of the graduates get noticed? And how many go on to run successful Philadelphia businesses?

The idea behind the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator is to bring attention to these designers and keep them in Philly.
CBS3 reports Macy’s will host four up-and-coming designers in the incubator, where they’ll have the space, resources and mentoring to grow their brands. With help from the Center City District, the incubator brought on six fashion and business professionals to choose the designers: one each from Philly U, Drexel and Moore, and one wildcard pick.

The incubator will launch in early 2012.
