Lighting issue on the Falls Bridge could take weeks to fix

For the past few weeks, the overhead lights on the Falls Bridge have been out, leaving many community members asking, ‘why‘?

Gina Snyder, director of the East Falls Development Corporation, says she is working with the Philadelphia Streets Department on resolving the matter.

“I’ve contacted bridge maintenance,” said Snyder, who placed a phone call to the Streets Department on Friday.

She did say that the LED light bulbs are not likely out, but rather, the problem “could have been caused by an electrical surge” that occurred for an unknown reason.

“It’s happened before, about a year ago,” said Snyder. “It may take a couple of weeks to be fixed.”

The Philadelphia Streets Department did not return a call for comment.
