Falcon Cam returns to Harrisburg state office building

Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection has turned its Falcon Cam back on to keep eye on the birds of prey that have called the Rachel Carson State Office Building in Harrisburg home for 12 years.

Curious parties can access the 24-hour stream anytime they please, and judging by the DEP’s reality show-like description of what’s going down, they’ll want to:

“Already this year, the resident male, who has been at the site since 2005, has had to defend his territory from an ambitious adolescent tiercel. This development leaves the female falcon with two potential mates this season.”

If that doesn’t make you want to tune in, nothing will.

The female falcon is expected to lay the first eggs of the breeding season late next month. Healthy hatchlings will make their appearance in May and take flight in June.
