Philadelphia has positioned itself as an inviting living room for a number of big events. Just in the last two years, it’s hosted the 2017 National Football League Draft, the Democratic National Convention, the papal visit, and the Made in America concert.

With great regularity, athletic events roll out along the Schuylkill River drives and cultural celebrations unfold on Penn’s Landing.

All of this takes planning — and it can take a toll on public spaces and its citizens. Morning Edition host Jennifer Lynn talks about this with Ashley Hahn, managing editor at PlanPhilly, about the logistics and ramifications of such massive public events.
