Exelon’s Unit 1 reactor shuts down day after Unit 2 resumes operation

Exelon’s Unit 2 reactor in Limerick shut down Sunday and again Monday. The nuclear reactor resumed operations Thursday, but Unit 1 shut down hours later.

The plant is still trying to determine the cause of the most recent shutdown, which is says went off without a hitch. The Pottstown Mercury is reporting an inspector is checking to see if operators are following the appropriate procedures, since all three shutdowns occurred during tests.

A public information session is slated for Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the plant.
