It’s August, and everyone seems to be on vacation at the shore, even deer.

    What?

Two deer were spotted on the beach in Wildwood Crest this morning, Wildwood 365 reports.

Did you know that deer can swim?

They have been seen swimming off Jersey City and Staten Island, according to reports on the Staten Island Advance and The Jersey Journal.

Back in January at Sandy Hook, a deer disregarded “closed” sign, according to Highlands Blog

In the Wildwood area, it’s actually not that unusual, according to locals who have witnessed deer galavanting through the area.

Their comments in reaction to today’s sighting (unedited):

Troy Abrams: “Deer can swim. Probably came across the bay at low tide from Rio, Erma area. When I lived in Erma we would see them in the back yard sometimes.”

Jim Stephens: “I’ve spotted deer in Diamond Beach in the area of the wildlife refuge/former Coast Guard LORAN station.”

Carmen R Taraborelli: “Finally somebody took a picture… Seen them there before myself, but no camera ! Ocasionally I’ve seen them down by the Coast Guard’s too !”

Margaret Kincade: “they even walk the mud flats, very common esp with all the building, flushing them out…eat fish also, nature amazes me”

So in New Jersey, you just never know what you may see!
