Ethical lapse

Breaking news from the desk of Dave Davies:

The city ethics board has fined a veteran Philadelphia elections official $2,700 for engaging in illegal political activity. Rene Tartaglione resigned from her post as Deputy City Commissioner last month after Ethics Board officials presented the evidence against her. Tartaglione, the daughter of City Commissioner Marge Tartaglione, collected political contributions and participated in the campaign of candidate Jonathan Ramos for State Representative, according to a settlement agreement with the Ethics Board.

Rene Tartaglione has agreed to pay the $2,700 penalty and not seek city employment for one year.
