Enforcement of flag restrictions draw controversy in Rehoboth Beach

Flag Day has come and gone, but Rehoboth Beach is getting criticism for its recent enforcement of flag display laws.

According to the Cape-Gazette, the owner of Aqua Grill reports being told by a code enforcement officer that the restaurant’s flag was hanging too low over Memorial Day weekend.  The owner says it was explained to him that hanging the flag too low over the sidewalk was a violation of federal laws regarding disabled people and not a city ordinance.  The owner says two inches were cut off the flag, and maintains Aqua Grill has also been visited for noise complaints that simply involved customers talking on the patio.
