Emlen Elementary sixth grader wins first place at Carver Science Fair

Tyree Gladden, Jr., a sixth grader at Emlen Elementary School, won first place at this year’s George Washington Carver Science Fair. Gladden was awarded the gold medal in his grade’s consumer science division for his project titled, “The Air Freshener Debate: The Effect of Scented Oil Plug-Ins.”

Gladden also won the Drexel University Research in the Community Award for the project. He recieved the awards at a ceremony on Feburary 22 at Drexel University’s Academy of Natural Sciences. 

It is the second year in a row that Gladden went home with a medal from the science fair. Last year he won second place honors at the Carver Science Fair for his project, “Fun With Science, The Physics of Helium Balloons.”
