How to recycle a street sign with style

This kinetic sculpture is the fourth piece in a series of “Eco-art” throughout East Falls.

Artists Mike Smash and Johnny Bus cut out the shapes of five fish that are indigenous to our section of the Schuylkill river using old street signs.

When the pinwheel is spinning it can be hard to discern the different fish, which represent the Channel Catfish, Yellow Perch, American Shad, Smallmouth Bass, and Common Carp.

On a day without wind, it becomes clear that the aluminum signs are actually outlines of different types of fish.
