East Mt. Airy fire displaces three residents

Three residents were displaced in a major fire at an East Mt. Airy apartment building on Tuesday.

At 1:30 p.m., the Philadelphia Fire Department responded to Crittenden Manor apartments, a two-story L-shaped building on the 800 block of East Vernon Road.

According to PFD Chief William Dell, the incident was a second-alarm fire, which is a fire assignment that brings several additional engines, ladders, chiefs and medics to the scene.

The blaze was placed under control at 2:20 p.m. and no injuries were reported to either residents of the home or the firefighters. The Red Cross was dispatched to the scene to assist with three residents of the apartments who were displaced as a result of the fire.
