Eagles fire defensive coordinator Sean McDermott

The Eagles have fired their defensive coordinator, Sean McDermott, Eagles officials stated Saturday.

McDermott had been secondary coach before taking over for Jim Johnson prior to the 2009 season. Since then, the Eagles have had their share of ups and downs. Officials say they had the worst red-zone defense in the league. The lackluster playoff performance against the Green Bay Packers seemed to cement this statement.

McDermott’s successor has not yet been announced.
