DUI checkpoints planned for Thanksgiving eve

With heavy traffic on the roads today, police in Delaware will be out in force especially looking for impaired drivers.

Three DUI checkpoints will be set up tonight in Newark, Newport and Wilmington, along with others downstate later over the extended holiday weekend. The checkpoints are part of the Office of Highway Safety’s Safe Family Holiday Campaign. Between now and New Year’s Eve, police will conduct 133 aggressive driving patrols to stop not just impaired drivers, but aggressive ones as well.
