DSU announces federal grant for optics research

Delaware’s congressional delegation is celebrating a $5 million grant to Delaware State University for optics research.

The grant was provided by the National Science Foundation for the five-year renewal of Delaware State’s Center for Research and Education in Optical Sciences and Applications.

Delaware State University President Harry Williams asked state officials last year for $10 million to build a new optics lab on campus.

The optics program was created in 1998 and has received several million dollars in federal grants.
