Drug money

    2008 called. It wants its overspending, debt-creating habits back. A report from Pennsylvania’s auditor general says the state wastes $50 million a year on drug purchases.

    By using a single drug purchasing program — as opposed to the 17 programs currently in place, as the Inquirer’s Joe DiStefano reports — the commonwealthy could save $200 million a year.
