Dr. Romney in triage

Once again, Mitt Romney divides Americans into neat categories and decides our fates. With regard to healthcare, the current system is just fine for the rich. After all, insurance companies are job creators too. Besides, the rich have people who do this kind of stuff for them.

When it comes to the dwindling middle class, we’ll be expected to spend many hours poring over the competing plans of myriad insurance companies, trying to figure out, as best we can, the one plan among hundreds, from all 50 states, that’s just right for us and our families.

As for the 50 million or so uninsured … no problem! They can always go to the ER. Never mind that using emergency rooms as primary care facilities is incredibly wasteful and expensive.

For chronic illness, such as, for instance, multiple scerosis, it is totally inappropriate. We won’t be seeing Ann Romney in a crowded urban emergency waiting room. But then, we wouldn’t expect to. Dr. Mitt has put her in the category she naturally belongs in, because of the only criteria that counts … her wealth.
