Doylestown Hospital has area’s lowest heart attack readmission rates

    With the national average for 30-day readmission rates for heart attack patients at 19.8 percent, Doylestown Hosptial’s 17.1 percent not only beats that, but has the lowest readmission and mortality rates in the area.

    Lower Bucks, Brandywine and Chestnut Hill hospitals also beat the national average, according to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services cited by the Philadelphia Business Journal.

    CMS began compiling data for this regular report in 2007, and covers nearly 4,000 hospitals. So which area hospitals fared worse than the national average? Abington Memorial Hospital at 23.7 percent, Phoenixville Hospital at 23.3 percent and Pennsylvania Hospital at 23  percent for readmission rates.
