Downe storm damage doesn’t qualify for FEMA aid

Though Cumberland County has received a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant for bridge repairs following severe storms, the storms and subsequent floods that damaged Downe Township in April won’t qualify for federal aid.

Downe Township Public Works Director Bob Campbell told the News of Cumberland County he’s hoping the township can get relief as part of the county aide, but Downe’s $2 million in damage isn’t enough for direct FEMA assistance.

Cumberland County freeholders accepted a $49,356 grant earlier this week for bridge repair in Fortescue.
