Double shooting leaves one dead, one wounded in West Oak Lane [updated]

Police are investigating a double shooting that left one man dead and another wounded in West Oak Lane on Wednesday morning.

The shooting took place at 5:15 a.m. in a rear alleyway on the 6800 block of Ogontz Ave., police spokesperson Tanya Little said Wednesday afternoon.

Police found a man shot in the side of the chest and in the shoulder. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene at 5:25 a.m. Police said the victim appeared to be in his thirties, but have not yet released his identity.

Around the same time, a 50-year-old man arrived at nearby Albert Einstein Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said. There, he told police he had been shot in the same alleyway.

He was reported to be in stable condition as of Wednesday afternoon.

Police did not provide a motive for the shootings.

UPDATE: The victim was identified Thursday as 49-year-old Welton Clark of Cheltenham.
