    Some of Philly’s public pools are now open. For parents who need to occupy their families through the hot Philadelphia summers, public pools must be a godsend. Tell us in six words what the city’s public pools mean to you.

    The temperature on Thursday is expected to reach 100 degrees. So it must have come as some relief to many on Monday when Mayor Michael Nutter officially opened up Philadelphia’s public pools with a brief ceremony at the Awbury Recreation Center in Germantown.

    Just a handful of pools are officially open now, but by June 29, the city will have 70 in service throughout the city.

    For kids who can’t get down the Shore, and for parents who need to occupy their families through the hot Philadelphia summers, public pools must be a godsend. Do you or your friends and neighbors use city pools?
