Discussing industrial land usage in Frankford, Bridesburg and Port Richmond

The Philadelphia City Planning Commission will hold a meeting later this week to discuss the future of industrial areas in Frankford, Bridesburg and Port Richmond.

Scheduled for Nov. 14 at Edgemont Caterers, 4411 Edgemont St. at 6:30 p.m., the meeting is part of the $200,000 EPA Brownfields Area-Wide Planning Grant

From the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s description of the project:

“The city will conduct brownfields research, analysis, community visioning and planning through this project, and will work with the community to balance social equity, environmental protection, and economic vitality objectives.”

Thursday’s meeting, which will include refreshments, is for information only. More meetings will follow in 2014. Attendees should expect to talk about properties like the old Philadelphia Coke Co., 4501 Richmond St.; Rohm & Haas, 5000 Richmond St.; and Edgewater Dyeing and Finishing, Torresdale Avenue and Worrell Street.
