Dinner and an interview with competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi

You won’t see coverage of the Wing Bowl on NewsWorks, but we want to direct your attention to this.

The 700 Level’s Enrico Campitelli Jr. went to dinner recently with Takeru Kobayashi, the Japanese competitive eater competing in today’s bowl against last year’s champ Super Squib and former winner El Wingador.

Brian Hickey, our Germantown/West Oak Lane editor, directed us to this feature story, which just might be the least disgusting thing you’ll ever read about the Wing Bowl.

Campitelli sat down to dinner with Kobayashi during Center City Restaurant Week after the eater had already downed 300 chicken wings, multiple cheesesteaks and roast pork sandwiches and a box of cookies.

One thing you’ll learn: Kobayashi considers this a sport. And he takes his training very seriously.
