Though visions of Mt. Airy don’t typically conjure up images of three-story townhomes, that’s what one developer has planned for Germantown Avenue. And residents of the neighborhood’s older, historic homes might be OK with that.
Though approval from the Zoning Board is still needed, developer Andrew Eisenstein has plans to put 26 units at 7408 Germantown Ave., the former site of the Garrett-Dunn house that burned to the ground in August 2009.
As Margaret Lenzi reports for NewsWorks, empty nesters and older residents in five- and six-bedroom homes are warming to the idea of downsizing but staying in their neighborhood.
